Style Icon’s The Fashion Word: NYFW, LFW, MFW & PFW SS16
Style Icon’s The F Word
With September soon among us I think it’s fair to say that we can safely begin to dust off our fur coats, pochettes and notebooks and begin to get that little bit excited for SS16. A period where new must-haves and trends are born (or re-born), and where fashion truly is alive. This September and early October will see SS16 unveiled on the catwalks of Fashion capitals around the world.
Starting us off will be New York Fashion Week which will run from the 10th -17th September 2015. Expect to see collections from Jason Wu, Mara Hoffman, Victoria Beckham and Philip Lim. (Psst …Givenchy has also surprisingly announced that they will be showcasing their collection at NFW this September – look out for their launch party held at their new Flagship store on Madison Avenue.) NFW’s location this year will move downtown to Skylight at Moynihan Station and Skylight Clarkson Square; a conscious decision by its organisers IMG. Mark Shapiro (Chief Content Officer) states that this SS16’s location will aim to create “the best possible experiences that extend beyond a physical location and moment in time,” for NFW’s audience. With an intention to go back to what made NFW so stylishly notorious in the first place these new inspirational show venues will allow lovers of fashion to be surrounded by the inspiring hubs pottered in the downtown region.
Next is London, and this year you’ll need to head to Brewer Street’s Car park in Soho from the 18th – 22nd September to catch the fashion week shows. A beacon to art and creativity in its own right the Brewer street Car park which was designed by JJ Joass makes for the perfect creative space to re-engage and increase interest in “one of the most important sectors of our economy” as stated by Munira Mirza, Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture. Nine NEWGEN designers will be showcasing their collections including Molly Goddard, Sadie Williams and Ryan Lo. The schedule has not yet been released but our favourites Alice Temperley, Roksanda Ilincic, Stella McCartney and Burberry are sure to be there. Poppy Delevingne should certainly be making an appearance at the Burberry show. We also think Kate Moss and Daisy Lowe will be gracing the red carpets this LFW SS16. Do they ever miss it? Oh and if you happen to attend LFW this September we shall see you there!
The word Milano in itself screams fashion and it comes to no surprise that this city will be one of the talking points this September. A city within a country where policemen adorn Armani as uniform and where fashion icons like Sophia Loren once dwelled there are always high hopes for this fashion capital. From the 23rd – 29th September designers from Versace to Miu Miu to Missoni will be displaying their avant garde collections once more, and will not only showcase their new designs but will subsequently also highlight why we look to them for innovation and style. The venue has yet to be announced unfortunately but we shall keep you up to date, after all we will be heading there ourselves!
Oh and let’s not forget Paris. Style is so obviously inherent in the Parisian culture and yet despite knowing this every year we are more and more amazed by this city’s creations and hospitality. We don’t think this PFW SS16 will be any different and we look forward to gazing at the latest collections by Parisian and global designers. Running between the 30th September to the 7th October 2015 PFW SS16 promises to be filled with collections from Dior, Lanvin and Kimye’s favourite label Balmain. The venue will soon be announced and we are waiting eagerly for news on where we will be heading to this September. We look forward to having front row seats to the city’s chicest of citizens and will be snapping up all of the streetwear.
Only 7 weeks to go!
Style Icon is looking forward to attending the fashion marathon yet again during September and October to bring you the latest on SS16 fashion, celebrity and party highlights. Until then, let’s continue to inspire and be inspired!
