Style Icon’s The Fashion Word: NYC, London, Milan & Paris
Due to work commitments in LA, Style Icon missed out on the fashion weeks this season. However, Style Icon would love to share some top fashion trends with you all so you are aware of what to look out for this AW15!!
- The 70s vibe is back!! Do you own a pair of flares? Corduroy pants or dungarees?? Start celebrating this fashion trend now as this September will indeed play homage to this fashionable era.
-
The 80s. Let’s salute the revival of the power shoulders, colour block knits and rainbow combos!! Does the soap opera ‘Dynasty’ ring any bells!!? Joan Collins could definitely pull off statement shoulders!! This trend is for anybody who wants to show the powerful side of their personality.
-
Glitz & Glam. Sequins always seem to make a comeback!! It’s now time to reach into our closets and breath some life back into our sequin jackets, and dresses again!! At Proenza Schouler, one dress alone was decorated with 300,000 sequins. Sonia Rykiel made sequins look glamorous enough for the day!!
-
Ultra Luxe Theme. Erdem set the tone in London by setting his show in an imaginary Parisian apartment. In New York, Marc by Marc Jacobs designers Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley gave William Morris Arts and Crafts prints a fresh new fashion look.
-
Karl Lagerfeld played on the ‘Ladies who Lunch’ theme introducing a ladylike mood to PFW. This season his fashion show was set in an intricate decorated brasserie. Roksanda Illincic’s AW15 show showcased cinched waist dresses, and demure polo necks!! Classic styles still play a dominant role in fashion
-
Layers upon Layers. This is one trend that we all seem to sport on a daily basis!! Teaming polo neck tops or dresses with a cardigan, and then adding a belt to cinch us in at the waist. Stella McCartney shows that this can work well within our capsule wardrobes. The Hermes show also played homage to this AW15 fashion trend.
-
Monochrome, Victoriana Noir, Tweed and Faux Fur. Monochromatic checkerboard prints appeared in the Valentino show while Sarah Burton from Alexander McQueen emphasised the Victorian era having looked to the beauty and decay of a rose. Sheer fabrics, frilled details and embellishment were strong components in this season’s fashion shows. Gucci designer Alessandro Michele made his debut with a collection in which girls dominated the catwalk in tweed. Lastly, faux fur is still glamorous and adds such a luxurious feel to fashion. Stella McCartney’s ‘”Fur-Free Fur’ coats were huge!! Overall, this season has been a great one for yet another eclectic mix of fashion trends which we can easily translate in our own way relative to our personal style!! Style Icon is looking forward to the High-Street’s version of all these fabulous trends!!

Until next season, let’s continue to be inspired and inspire!!
