Style Icon’s The Fashion Word: MFW SS16: Day 6
Angelo Marani’s spring summer 2016 collection is unique in its on way drawing upon references to nature, sea-water and according to the press release “turning back the seduction clock to the Seventies of the hectic costa Smeralda, of Italy” There are some strong styles – shift dresses, shorts complimented by colourful embellishment and floral motifs. Jewel waistcoats in bright Swarovski-crystal net, and skirts in laser-cut dominate the catwalk. There are lots of intricate detail including broderie anglaise lace, hand-painted flowers on denim and generally lots of contemporary styles suitable for a special occasion. The collection plays homage to the woman’s body where beautiful garments look ideal for all body types.

Mila Schon’s new creative director Alessandro De Benedetti has continued to develop the brand’s innovative futuristic concept playing homage to eclectic fashion with unique edge. He plays with geometric shapes, and colour with graphic designs inspired by “Techno-New-Rally” as well as focusing on colour blocks. Most of Alessandro’s pieces are light-weight but some showcase a shiny PVC. The colour palette is strong with rain blue, lamborghini yellow and porshe red reoccurring on the runway. The accessories compliment the outfits bearing the iconic seventies Mila Schon symbol, and matching sunglasses in gold and blue; matrix style. Overall, Alessandro De Benedetti embraces both masculine tailoring with ethereal couture keeping the brand’s identify alive.

The San Andres spring summer 2016 collection generated an atmosphere full of culture contrasts, geometric tricks, florals in a multitude of colours and references to Italian tradition. The dominating shapes were skirts, and V-neck tops that cinched in at the waist. A vibrant collection indeed which was very distinctive in terms of colour and the designer’s use of patterns.Trapezoid shapes were pretty dominant and were interchanging with more fitted dresses. The collection appeals to women of all shapes and sizes. Overall, the San Andres collection is setting us up for some major trends. We are heading into an exciting time for fashion.
