Style Icon’s the Fashion Word: Highlights of Paris Fashion Week SS16
The Paul and Joe spring summer 2016 fashion show adopted a youthful element. With palm trees as the main motif through out the collection, there was a sense of serenity typically influenced by a relaxed lifestyle. The palm trees, and animal motif suggested a tropical environment or a Californian lifestyle characterised by beach life, and everyday attire suitable for a warmer climate. Casual jumpsuits, dresses with plunging neck-lines and v-neck shapes dominated the runway. There was such a dynamic mix of silhouettes. Androgynous suits were paired with feminine shirts to create a soft but yet strong balance. Denim as well as luxe-cotton and silk fabrics are set to be major trends next season as well as metallic accessories. Silver pointed shoes and cowboy boots worked perfectly against Paul & Joe’s playful looks. The colour palette was soft with hues of red, blue, and pink which set a contrast against a few black ensembles. An extremely wearable collection which draws upon references to effortless Bohemian style.
The Agnes B spring summer 2016 collection kick started with a video of the workmanship behind the famous fashion collection. With an exquisite Parisian sense of style, Agnes B executes her vision. As she rightly says “The fashion show which I will present in Paris will reflect this linear and determined creation that gives the clothes their simple and pure lines and make them timeless” Various classic styles dominated the runway from classic suits, shorts paired with casual shirts knotted at the waist, beautiful dresses and jackets suited for every occasion. There were a number of styles Agnes B played with to create a dynamic fashion collection. Accessories complimented different ensembles – sun hats, neck scarves, sunglasses and classic totes. It is evident that Agnes B appeals to the everyday woman who has a pleasant lifestyle that doesn’t require much apart from quality in the form of personal style, fashion and perhaps other pleasures such as food. Overall, the collection looks classy and oozes a minimalistic taste.
Andrea Karg, the creative director behind Allude, delivered her collection in it’s purist form. According to Andrea “I drew my inspiration from the fascinating fossils of organic fibers, which appealed to me so acutely that I translated their shapes into soft and flowing cashmere structures and surfaces without losing their dynamism and strength” The fabrics mainly used in the collection were indeed linen and cashmere carefully constructed to create an effortless draping effect, and to lightly fall on the body. Karg demonstrates a natural craftsmanship for high quality fashiondesigns that would make any lady feel exquisite and fashionably sophisticated. Ample skirts were paired with knitted sweaters and cardigans with some looks adorning neck accessories in the form of a leaf. The colour palette was extremely soft with hues of mint green, white, cream and light blue. Overall, Karg created a heavenly collection that oozed tranquility.
