Style Icon’s The Fashion Word: The Grand Opening of Nico Didonna
To mark the grand opening of Nico Didonna’s new atelier in London’s Piccadilly, Nico hosted an intimate soiree. With many celebrity and industry guests in attendance including Nancy Dell’Olio, it’s easy to say that Nico Didonna has clearly made his mark on London’s fashion scene. His fashion label has been growing since it opened its doors on Berwick Street in 1999. Growing from strength to strength, it was a pleasure to be invited to the brand’s new residence on Great Windmill Street in Soho showing that Nico has somehow remained in keeping with the identity of his brand being eclectic, directional, and contemporary which compliments the cutting-edge vibe of Soho.
It’s encouraging to see a brand develop which adds to its exciting journey. Along the way, Nico has demonstrated sheer craftsmanship, garment versatility and quality coming from the designer’s Italian heritage. Additionally, Nico’s new store is spacious, and airy with good lighting; giving the brand a new and exciting stance from which to grow further.
The evening was spent catching up with the main man himself who Style Icon first collaborated with for singer/songwriter and Ambassador of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Trust – Rene Byrd. Style Icon styled Rene in one of Nico’s beautiful black wrap dresses for Nelson Mandela’s memorial service. Nico’s dresses are known for their signature adaptable style which can be worn for every occasion. If you need a trans-seasonal wardrobe staple then it’s definitely worth investing in one of Nico’s dresses.
Overall, Nico’s event was a success. The atmosphere was lively with champagne and canapes to enjoy throughout the evening. Cucumba were at hand to offer free manicures from a selection of Essie and Morgan Taylor polishes. Style Icon contemplated the idea of pampering (much needed after a hectic week) so as to sport the latest nail art to match her beautiful metallic Chanel bag from Designer Exchange sold for £1,600. There’s nothing like wearing a statement accessory for an event. This way, you can opt for a simple but classy look and let your accessories do the talking especially if they are metallic and shimmer beautifully in the light!! Although Style Icon didn’t opt for the nail art, the rest of the evening was spent partaking in light-hearted banter, and a warm toast to wish Nico continued success in his lovely new home.
