Style Icon’s The Fashion Word: Go ‘Hotzy’ Red for NYE
The final countdown to NYE is upon us! An entire year has passed yet again right before our eyes with memories to reminisce over and, no doubt, will help to steer us all in the right direction in 2016! While we wave goodbye to 2015 let’s step into the new year in style!! Make this one of your new year’s resolutions. Over the last few months, I have made a conscious effort to look after myself more as we should! Whatever your guilty pleasure is, make it a priority to spoil yourself a little. In my opinion, you can’t get better than a good beauty pamper along with healthy food and good wine! For this reason, it was time for another visit to Depicool recently in preparation for new year’s eve. If you want to go all out this new year’s eve then give yourself a lot of options to look fab i.e. a stunning outfit, a great pair of shoes to dance the night away in, a bit of arm candy, and last but not least fab make-up, hair and nails. It’s not too late to try Depicool’s express pedicure and shellac treatment. After a few months off from shellac, my nails were in better condition; much stronger and ready for a gel polish which lasts longer than a manicure. Up first, however, was a pedicure so my toe nails could dry for a longer period of time until my manicure was over. My toe nails were beautifully filed and then buffed after which a base coat was applied – Essie’s ‘First Base’ 6010. I was in a red hot mood so opted for Essie’s Too Too Hot’ 759 – a striking red which I thought would make a bold statement against my NYE studded black ensemble by Goddiva Fashion. Make a statement with your nails particularly. Make the smaller things stand out like glittering stars in the night. The final stage of the pedicure involved applying a top coat by Seche Vite.
I needed a similar colour in red for my manicure to compliment my pedicure. The closest match was ‘Hotzy’ 03058 by Artistic Colour Gloss. Before this was applied, my beauty therapist used a bonding gel by Artistic Colour Gloss cured with a UV lamp system for about 1 minute. She then applied the dangerously ‘Hotzy’ red polish over the bonding gel. I placed my nails under the UV lamp for about 2 minutes thereafter so as to cure the gel properly. The final step was applying ‘Soak off Glossing Nail Gel’ over the polish to seal it for lasting wear. A further 2 minute cure time was needed under the UV lamp. My nails looked brand, spanking new after this process which was topped off with CND Solaroil leaving my nails extremely supple.
Stunning nails make a huge difference and tend to stand out against an elegant outfit. Whatever you decide to wear for new year’s eve my advise as a stylist is to choose a nail colour to compliment your accessories. On the day of my Depicool visit, I wore a cream top with a pair of black fitted trousers; a simple look complimented by Velvet and Rose London’s “Cherry-On-Top” statement necklace. My newly polished nails accentuated this necklace in a sophisticated way! Go ‘Hotzy’ red for new year’s eve. Dare to be different while expressing your individuality.
