In my opinion, eyebrow threading is better than waxing because it uses no chemicals and is more time efficient. It took around 5-10 minutes to have my eyebrows shaped at Cucumba. Threading is an ancient hair removal technique that uses 100% cotton thread to remove unwanted facial hair. My beauty therapist took two long entwined pieces of cotton thread and professionally wrapped them around my unwanted hairs, removing them in one clean movement. The process is pretty quick although a little uncomfortable but this depends on your pain tolerance. It’s important to relax and remain still while your therapist gently removes hair from the root of the follicle. To help with this process, I was asked to place my fingers just above and below each eyebrow stretching my skin to make it easier to remove the hairs.
My advise to anybody who hasn’t tried threading is to give it a go. Waxing can be harsh on sensitive skin and can cause chemical burns if not carried out properly. Here are five reasons why you might not go back to waxing:
- Store-bought wax contains harsh chemicals including resins, artificial fragrances, and in some cases dangerous dyes. Threading uses only pure cotton threads and nothing more.
- With threading, there is little contact with the skin so skin damage is less likely to occur.
- Threading works much faster than plucking. Instead of pulling each hair out threading grabs one line of hair at once, removing it instantly. With waxing you have to wait for the wax to dry which makes this process more time-consuming.
- Threading lasts longer for up to 3-4 weeks.
- Threading beats waxing in terms of achieving a more shapely eyebrow and getting the arch you want.
- It takes 1-2 sessions to get used to threading
Threading is definitely my preferred eyebrow shaping method although everybody has their own personal preference. Waxing is less painful so this might be the best option for you in this case.
