Style Icon’s The Fashion Word: Day Three of MFW
Milan Fashion Week – Days three and four showcased more innovative fashion in bundles. As there are so many shows, I think it would take forever to blog about them all so it’s important to see the shows you love or the ones you get invited to – show a bit of mutual respect. I am all for supporting new and established talent but there’s nothing more rewarding than a personal invite. So, with all my recent blogs that I have been sharing with you, which FW16 trend represents you? Don’t allow yourself to get caught up in so many trends but first, think about your individual style and where it fits on the trend forecast. This way, you’ll remain true to your individual style which is what the Style Icon brand is all about. Here are some hot trends that are set to make their mark on the high street too. Not everybody can afford designer goods hence why high street fashion does a great job in recreating designer looks to suit everybody’s budget. Here are some of the top FW16 trends set to make an impact. I have always been an avid fan of military styles which tend to reflect my assertive and confident attitude. Uma Wang reinterpreted this trend in a strong manner. However, if you are more feminine then you might prefer a bit of Aigner. Anyway, let me know what you think?
Uma Wang FW16
Uma Wang’s exploration of the military trend is also coated with references to romanticism. There is a strong contrast between military style jackets, wide cut trousers in military fabric with matching velvet blazers adorned with floral prints. For FW16, Uma Wang appears to give emphasis to the classic saying of “Opposites Attract” As each model walked the runway, they revealed a story of the renaissance era. Various silhouettes played homage to key trends for FW16 – Pinstripe suits, knitwear with asymmetric cuts. The colour palette was strong with hues of green, brown and black. Added to the mix were shades of red, pink and gold – creating a beautiful rendition of Beauty and The Beast where soft, feminine looks meet the masculine, beast-like beauty of the military wardrobe.
Elisabetta Franchi FW16
For FW16, the collection of Elisabetta Franchi will take you through a wonderful world of style adventure. With references to military style, on the opposite side of the coin is a play on the circus environment with inspiration taken from Cirque du Soleil. Gendarmerie details were taken from the uniforms worn by the bodyguards of Marie Antoinette. “The Elisabetta Franchi woman of the season conceals her femininity beneath the severe shapes of this military style” In terms of FW16 shapes, you will see more super skinny or ankle-cropped trousers in this collection. Military jackets together with high-waisted trousers dominated the catwalk along with looks with prints featuring animalier proposals keeping the mood animal-friendly. Rows of fringes, both in gold and regimental style were a recurring theme. The colour palette was rich with shades of cobalt blue, red lacquer, orange tangerine, military green and natural shades. Look out for some key accessories – fringed heel, studs, cuissard boots and clutch bags.
Atsushi Nakashima FW16
The FW16 Atsushi Nakashima collection is a celebration of traditional culture with modern elements. I enjoyed watching this collection come to life on the runway. At first, I thought the collection was directional in terms of style. There was a play on shape and colour with layered knit and sponge-like elastic fabrics. A Japanese faux suede was developed through high technology research. Eclectic patterns were printed digitally on silk fabrics and the accessories were playful made from cut sphere technologies. The colour palette was rich in red, black, and yellow. Atsushi Nakashima provided a glimpse of futuristic trends that are timeless in essence.
Aigner FW16
The FW16 Aigner collection was stunning. There were feminine elements of style with attention to a colour palette of nude, autumnal brown and black. Next season, you’ll see a play on cut out fabrics, fur and lace. Aigner appeals to the sexy lady who loves a sophisticated and elegant style. Long dresses with a thigh-high slit were worn with cuissard boots creating a sassy look. Aigner never disappoints. Overall, a strong collection with emphasis on owning a strong personality with the confidence to pull off a strong look.
