You can always tell a true artist when they are able to take you on a journey through their work – a journey that tells a story about them as a person and their life experiences through which their creations have naturally evolved. Stuart McGrath; founder and designer of Armoura Jewellery trained in sculpture having worked in Dublin, London and Italy for many years before transferring his natural skills in sculpture to jewellery design where he developed the same principles of form, proportion and craftsmanship. There are references to nature in some designs which give the collection a somewhat mystical presence.

This stunning necklace is once again inspired by the natural elements such as the night sky and symbolises a compass in its design with an emerald cut stone in the centre surrounded by v-cut shards. The idea behind such imagery is to show that a compass navigates us back to our roots. Such creativity inspires me to think that if we ever get lost – emotionally, spiritually or mentally – fond memories rooted in childhood maybe or during a particular time in our life may well get us back on track just like a compass.
