Style Icon’s The Fashion Word
Welcome to Style Icon’s The F Word bringing you the latest news in fashion, events, celebrity styling and more!! We are now only a couple of months away from the Big Four – New York City, London, Milan, and Paris Fashion Week. As a lead up to this crazy time on the fashion calender, Paris Haute Couture Week took place from Thursday 3rd July – Friday 11th July 2014!! It was such a pleasure to be in Paris during fashion week; a city full of culture and architectural timelessness, and of course magical fashion influenced by Parisian tradition and international couturiers to mark this special occasion on the fashion map!! “Je ne sais pas ce que” is all that springs to mind!! “I don’t know what” it is about Paris but it leaves a lasting impression on you!!
Style Icon’s Top Picks:
Georges Chakra Autumn/Winter 2014-15
Prior to Style Icon’s visit to Paris, there were a few shows on the top of the ‘Must-See’ list and Georges Chakra Couture was one of them! Worn by the likes of Jennifer Lopez, and featured in one of the world’s top fashion magazines, Rendez-vous De La Mode, Georges Chakra’s couture collection is simply stunning or should I say exquisite or…the list goes on!! The fall-winter 2014-2015 Couture show of Georges Chakra was held at the Palais de Tokyo during Paris Fashion week. From the intricacy of his collection; each piece showing a unique craftsmanship; second to none!! This designer clearly deserves to be among the elite couturiers of the world. Style Icon had the pleasure of meeting the talented man himself on behalf of FBC Universal Networks, and of course to represent the interest of Style Icon’s celebrity client base who would, of course, fight tooth and nail, to wear the Georges Chakra Collection! On arrival, Style Icon immediately went back stage, stunned by the elaborate collection Style Icon had to take a few deep breaths before preparing herself to ask Georges a few questions!! Coincidentally, we were both wearing yellow which is a sign of good luck in Brazilian tradition so I immediately felt at ease!! Having asked Georges where he gets his inspiration, he answered “I am inspired by the 1950’s photographic masterpieces of Richard Avedon & Irving Pen”
Wow!!! Style Icon noticed hints of 1950’s glamour in each piece!! The signature look being the cape which took on many guises within the collection. There were long and short capes but particularly ones with a nude back with graphic cutouts. The fabrics mixed harmoniously with soft velvet, organza, brocade, fur! Contrasting fabrics which added a softness but yet raw refinement to the collection!! The colour palette varied between ruby, bright red, aubergine, sapphire, gold, silver and black!!
Overall this collection was a celebration of romanticism with a demure and sensual presence of a modern day princess!! Can’t wait to see what’s coming next!!
I hope you enjoyed our blog!! Top tip for stylists – every designer has his own unique story enough for you to create a visually exciting story for each & every client you’re dressing!! Therefore, no look should be the same!!
Until next time let’s inspire and be inspired!!
