In the world of Style Icon, fashion and style dictate the momentum of life in so many different ways!! London seems pretty slow paced at the moment without the frenetic streets London Fashion Week brings!! Think editorial, whose eagerly waiting for the BIG SEPTEMBER ISSUE after which the high street is suddenly swimming in new fashion, and stylish trends!! As fashionable swimmers, we either continue to swim to keep up with the rest or sink admitting defeat!!
What we wear is influenced by current trends but what has also dawned on me suddenly are the less obvious things fashion influences in a sneaky way such as where we like to eat out, where we choose to live or where we travel. All of these things definitely matter in my world!! I am a lover of fashion, fashion is my work, my lifestyle and something I have a natural, innate passion for hence why it has a major effect on the world of Style Icon. Where I live is no accident; Old Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane are on my door step!! Far from other trendy, fashionable destinations where the elite groovy gangs tend to hang out – Primrose Hill, Notting Hill, South Kensington – nonetheless what the city has is edge, “I am from the school of hard knocks” attitude with a firm and grounded determination to succeed, to bring fashion to another level in terms of my own individual interpretation of styling innovation projected from my mind’s eye!! So, welcome to Style Icon’s The F Word which will bring you celebrity looks inspired from previous historical times, legendary style icons over the decades, and contemporary fashion (pretty much everything reflected onto a mood board) from which I draw more inspiration to style, inspire and be inspired!!
Let’s begin with Angelina Jolie, she has become a Style Icon only naturally through her powerful presence and iconic movie roles!! At the premiere of Maleficent, Jolie opted for an Atelier Versace gown!! Her funky jewellery was custom made by Stella McCartney. In Angelina Jolie’s left ear, she sported an oversized earring resembling a javelin, and on her wrists wore gold cuffs featuring numerous spikes!! This look shouts The F Word!!!! Style Icon is #loving the look which is rebellious; depicting the 1990s era!! When I think of the latter, I think of how Dr Martens have reinvented themselves in contemporary fashion!! Take a look at the images below. You’ll see that McQueen have some amazing boots. Every celebrity look gets inspiration from somewhere!! Angelina Jolie is a daredevil character it seems so this look suits her personality as well as appears to have a direct affiliation with other seemingly rebellious Style Icons such as model Agyness Deyn and visual artist Patti Smith. Her look also conjures up historical references to the 1990s era which was characterised by multiculturalism, and movements such as grunge and hip hop!!
