Style Icon’s The F Word
Welcome to Style Icon’s The F Word!! Once again, Style Icon is bringing you the latest news in fashion, a taste of the world of celebrity styling and more. Have you ever asked yourself “Who is my favourite Style Icon?” If you find yourself pondering over this question then you are clearly a fashion-orientated person!! Our individual style definitely comes from somewhere or someone inspirational.
As a stylist, I love an eclectic look with fusions of contemporary and classic fashion, a hint of rock ‘n’ roll rebellion reflected in my choice of accessories; funky jewellery, studded boots or a belt or silver embellished epaulettes!! My main Style Icons have personality, are quite androgynous and seemingly carefree!! If you haven’t guessed already then does Gwen Stefani or Chloe Sevigny spring to mind. They represent strong women who have this sense of courageousness about them. On that note, the main driving force behind my fashion sense is my confidence to “just be me” Although I follow trends for personal interest I also like to play with trends, and reinterpret them into my own visually independent fashion story! Rather than wear a designer brand from head to toe, I like to mix high street and designer brands together so I would sport my favourite Vivienne Westwood shoes, and Chanel bag with a dress or jacket and jeans from the high street. What gives style substance is an ability to be individually creative which in turn reflects a dynamic personality!! Think Sarah Jessica Parker, or Marilyn Monroe. Their personalities have made their style iconic and have influenced contemporary fashion in more ways than one!! Sarah Jessica Parker achieved major success playing Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and The City which revolutionized depictions of female sexuality. Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model and singer. Monroe began a career as a model , which led to a film contract in 1946 with Twentieth Century-Fox. By 1952, she had her first leading role in Don’t Bother to Knock.
You can recreate the look of Cara Delevingne by opting for some high street classics. New Look have a black metal bar clutch which is a whopping £12.99. River Island have a black necklace trim maxi dress for £45.00. All new season!!
For the above iconic look why not pop to French Connection where you’ll find a beautiful panelled jersey dress for £49.00. Team with a pair of ‘Richer Strappy Sandals’ from Topshop at £48.00, and a handy grey metal snake box clutch for £15.00 from River Island.
I hope you enjoyed our blog!! Top tip for stylists- It’s worth watching All About Eve (1950) with Marilyn Monroe. You can gain lots of fashion inspiration from watching old movies!!
Until next time let’s inspire and be inspired!!
