Ones To Watch: Designer Duo!
Apart from being an excuse to revive our wardrobe, we also love this time of the year for the Fashion Week madness. Although we brought the catwalk to the city with Style Birmingham Live, we’re always keeping our eyes and ears to the ground about what’s happening on other catwalks. So we were delighted to hear that yet another Birmingham name made waves at LFW…
Not only is it the likes of Osman getting the London fashion set talking, Brum’s designer duo Époque also wowed the crowds when they took part in fashion event La Nuit De La Mode, showcasing ultimate staple items for this season.
La Nuit De La Mode was organised by Style Icon and took place at private members club Molton House in Mayfair. Époque was handpicked by Style Icon founder Natalie Robinson as an example of the new talent that is making a move within the fashion industry.
The evening allowed buyers, press and VIP guests to come together to view selected pieces from the Autumn/Winter 2010-11 collections of emerging designer talent. Along with a small selection of new designers, Époque’s key looks were modelled during a catwalk show for the evening.
Launched in September 2009 by Andrea Watson and Joanna Davies, Époque makes a statement with their fresh, innovative and constantly evolving attitude to designing garments. Époque’s design ethic involves pushing boundaries beyond limitations resulting in masterful pieces for women.
Taken from the French language meaning ‘the beat of a heart’, the word Époque reflects the design and creation of each individual garment from the label. Époque sets in motion the idea of engaging with your deepest desires through clothing.
The A/W2010-11 collection titled ‘Debut’ is the second collection and features soft tailoring and structured lines, made from cotton moleskins and floral silks which are combined to create a feminine look with bold seductive elements.
The collections muse is the forties’ iconic actress Tallulah Bankhead whose intense rise to fame and authoritative voice made her a natural choice for the collection.
So, this is most definitely one to keep your eyes on fashion fans…
