About Style Icon – Celebrity Stylist & Style/Event Blogger Natalie Robinson aka Styleiconnat
From the bow bells of London to international acclaim, Celebrity Stylist, Blogger and Brand Ambassador Natalie Robinson aka Styleiconnat has over 10 years experience in the fashion industry. Natalie’s work and lifelong passion involve styling the stars including musicians and various other talents for the red carpet, as well as personal styling to ultimately make her clients look and feel special.
Natalie commenced her career in fashion as a personal stylist and often collaborated with a number of corporate organisations such as The British Fashion Council for London Fashion Week, London Fashion Weekend, Clothes Show Live, HRG and British Airways. Natalie’s styling work has featured in a number of editorials and online publications. Natalie also supports many charities such as Wellchild, Elton John Aids Foundation, MacMillan Cancer Support, and Crisis.
Natalie started blogging from 2015. This led to the creation of her growing blog The Lifestyle Collective – a true representation of Natalie’s inner creative voice which she expresses in her own unique style by writing about emerging brands, the latest beauty, and fashion trends and the hottest red carpet looks at exclusive events worldwide. Natalie decided to explore her creative writing skills further by completing a creative writing course at Central Saint Martins in 2016. She has since collaborated with many brands and has been appointed as Exclusive Brand Ambassador for Depicool and Cucumba beauty salons in London. This role will see Natalie spearhead the fusion of fashion and beauty within both businesses whilst testing and showcasing the range of services offered by them. “My role is to provide living proof and honest commentary as to the power of various treatments to keep you looking and feeling your best” Natalie is also Brand Ambassador for Designer Exchange based in London. In order to remain true to the DNA of the Style Icon brand, Natalie’s styling work and blog posts are to encourage inner confidence, individuality, and positive wellbeing.
“Look demure and classy while feeling bold, beautiful and daring” says Style Icon Nat.
Natalie was sponsored by British Airways as a keynote speaker at the Office* exhibition. “Since office* coincides with London Fashion week, British Airways has invited fashion expert Natalie Robinson to advise office* visitors on how to ‘Dress to Impress’,” says Beyza Aydin, British Airways’ campaign project manager of UK&I sales & marketing.
The Style Icon Story
Founder of Style Icon Natalie Robinson was born within the sound of Bow Bells, London. After studying A Levels in English Literature, Theatre and Psychology she decided to undergo a BA honours degree in Social Policy and Politics at Royal Holloway in Egham, Surrey. During this period, Natalie took her first tentative foray into fashion by organising a number of well-received clothes shows and events. The ensuing success established Natalie’s innate artistic flair and illustrated her gift for visual creativity and styling innovation. In turn, this brief phase instigated her long term passion for fashion and determined her future as a celebrity stylist, founding personal styling company Style Icon in 2005.
After leaving university, in the year 2000, Natalie started working in Harrods, Knightsbridge for a couple of years as brand specialist for Donna Karan and other top international designers. This position involved consulting and advising a large number of clientele including high profile names on key trends, whilst helping them shop for their specific lifestyle needs. Having evolved into an accomplished fashion expert, the next natural step was to work as a fashion consultant for Browns clothing boutique on South Molton Street. This prestigious family owned business provided Natalie with an intimate yet cutting-edge environment to work in. The owner Mrs Joan Burstein is widely renowned for her infamous buying skills, having propelled many previously anonymous designers such as Donna Karan, John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood into ubiquitous fashion labels. It was commonplace for Natalie to deal with A-list celebrities such as Kylie Minogue, Lionel Richie, Ewan McGregor, and Sophie Dahl to name just a few. This wealth of experience proved to be invaluable for Natalie’s business acumen.
Two years on, Natalie seized a golden opportunity to work as a personal shopper for Selfridges. She used this episode to consolidate her client base and contacts within the fashion industry. Working with household names such as ‘Trinny and Susannah’ and liaising with diverse people from all walks of life boosted her creative zeal. Natalie soon began to recognise personal styling as a far more rewarding skill to solely putting different outfits together. It also meant knowing your customer, and encouraging women especially those with low self-esteem to become more confident in their own skin. In 2005, Natalie set up her own personal styling company, Style Icon, which did not just limit Natalie to shopping in one store but in various high street and designer stores and boutiques worldwide. It was a risk leaving the security of a nine-five job to set up a business from scratch but apart from being prepared, Natalie is pleased to have made the tough sacrifices to financially support her dream. From 2011 until 2013, Natalie began to mentor students and deliver courses in retail to help finance her business further, wanting to help those who are passionate about setting up their own business in fashion. From this experience, Natalie completed a PGCE course and partnered with the Fashion Retail Academy thereafter in Central London to deliver an ‘Introduction to Personal Styling’ course.
The styling opportunities have been endless since Style Icon was born. The business has enabled Natalie to fulfil the lifestyle needs of businessmen, women and celebrities across the globe as well as organise a number of fashion shows, photo shoots and events, mentor enthusiastic young adults, and collaborate with such prestigious charity organisations as Well Child and Elton John Aids Foundation. As Natalie’s ultimate dream has always been to become a celebrity stylist, all of her previous experiences in fashion, A List contacts accomplished over the years and most of all Natalie’s love of fashion to reproduce visual creativity exclusive to each client Natalie works with, has set the right foundation for Natalie working more closely with a number of high-profile celebrities who have become loyal clients. Overall, Natalie has always been a daring, free-spirited character which shows through her work, and who simply uses her passion for styling to reinterpret her client’s individuality. CREDITS:
